International Woodfirer's Conference Mystery Bay, 2014
The images below show the construction of this large Anagama kiln that was constructed as part of the International Woodfirer's Conference held over a month in Mystery Bay, Australia, 2014. With 20 International and Australian guest potters and hundreds of local attendees, the conference was a huge success bringing together artists from across the world to learn, share and create together. The kiln construction and firing was an integral part of the Conference and was a co creation with many of the artists and guests taking part and offering something into the firing. Initially the kiln was to be carefully deconstructed after the conference so that the donated bricks could be re used, but due to its success, the popular decision was made to keep it and funds were raised to buy replacement bricks so that the kiln could be preserved on site for potential future use.
